About
I'm a content marketer with a strong editorial core and a background that spans trade book publishing and B2B SaaS. Most recently, as Senior Storytelling Strategist at Staffbase, I shaped the narratives that defined how the company communicated its value — from product innovation and AI to brand positioning and thought leadership.
I spent twenty-five years in the New York City publishing world, editing across genres and managing titles for houses including Alfred A. Knopf, HarperCollins, and Houghton Mifflin. Then, closing in on 50, I moved with my family to Germany, teaching English to professionals in Frankfurt before joining Staffbase.
From blog posts and case studies to keynotes and white papers, I create content that connects strategy to story, and story to performance.
Outside of work, you can often find me on my bike or making music with my band, The Go-Kartel.
"Working with Rob Grover was like being equipped with several extra vertebrae."

Work
Senior Storytelling Strategist — Staffbase
I joined Staffbase in 2017 as one of the company's first thirty hires and spent nearly a decade there — growing from Content Writer/Editor to Senior Storytelling Strategist — as it scaled from a local German startup to a global tech unicorn of 800+ employees. Along the way, I shaped narratives across product storytelling, thought leadership, SEO strategy, and content operations, and helped build the editorial voice and standards that defined the brand.
Freelance Editor
Since 2014, I have provided independent editorial support for authors, artists, and organizations across the U.S. and Europe — spanning manuscript development, copyediting, and production supervision. Projects include a New York Times bestselling memoir (2021), Sarah Hoover's The Motherload (2025–26), and exhibition catalogs for the Gagosian Gallery, including: Francis Bacon, Late Paintings (2015); Avedon/Warhol (2016); Picasso: Minotaurs and Matadors (2017).
25 Years in Book Publishing
I spent twenty-five years in trade book publishing in New York City — editing and managing titles at Alfred A. Knopf, HarperCollins, and Houghton Mifflin, and serving as senior editor and researcher to Picasso biographer Sir John Richardson. Over that time, I worked with winners of the National Book Award, the Booker Prize, and the Pulitzer Prize.
